Dune light by Moss

Dezeen Showroom: inspired by rolling sand formations, German brand Moss‘ Dune light features a sculptural arrangement of aluminium shades.

The light and shadows cast by desert sand dunes led designer Daniel Becker to create the Dune luminaire, which is made up of curved aluminium elements that both shield and reflect light at various angles.

The Dune light takes its inspiration from rolling sands

“Lined up next to each other, their dynamic curves and soft surfaces create an exciting landscape in any space,” said Moss.

The Dune design is modular and held together by thin metal connectors that structure the shades into the desired shape – an endless number of shades can be connected together, and they can be arranged horizontally, vertically or in clusters.

The light is modular and made of aluminium shades

The shades are made of high-quality aluminium that is satin-finished and then anodised or polished.

Dune is designed to be packaged extremely compactly to reduce carbon emissions from transport. According to the brand, a three-metre-long fixture comes in a box smaller than standard hand luggage.
