Bobby X and Bobban X by Thomas Bernstrand and Stefan Borselius for Blå Station

Dezeen Showroom: Swedish brand Blå Station has updated its Bobby and Bobban seating, designs by Thomas Bernstrand and Stefan Borselius that snap together magnetically.

Younger siblings to the designer’s BOB modular sofa, the Bobby X chair and Bobban X pouf now feature new magnets that are said to be stronger and to satisfyingly snap together, as well as new, smoother castors.

These features contribute to a seating design that is meant to be configured not just once but over and over again, providing a flexible furniture solution for spaces with multiple uses.

“Maybe connected chairs should be separated and function as conversation chairs after the talk is over,” said Blå Station. “Perhaps a room should change from the daytime activity to the evening events.”

The Bobban X pouf can be used as a freestanding ottoman or joined with Bobby

The magnets and optional castors make Bobby and Bobban versatile but also fun to move around, inviting participation from anyone using the space.

The Bobby design can segue from being a slim version of the BOB sofa to a chair for one, while Bobban can turn from an extra seat to a sideboard, divider or side table.
