In 2018 Standard Studio was approached by a private client to help with combining two apartments into one. Both apartments measured about 140 m2, covering the ground floor and basement. In the back two small gardens become one that is the perfect size for this type of urban villa.
The spatial concept was formed by the wish of the client to have the floorplan as open as possible but still have ‘cosy’ spaces. Inspiration was found in the idea that the apartment can behave like a plaza in a city: a big ‘public’ space and volumes around it that houses the functional needs of an apartment. The volumes houses functions like the kitchen and an office, a livingroom and a kids area.
The rectangular volumes that are placed on the square have openings with different dimensions to create a relation with the ‘public’ space. The outside is cladded with a fresh and light bamboo veneer that creates a nice contrast with the light concrete floor.
The kitchen is a secial one designed by Eginstil, it is equied with high quality kitchenware and in the middle the island immediatly catches your eyes.
