Stump Recycled stool by Derlot

Dezeen Showroom: Australian design brand Derlot has released a new version of its Stump stool with a colourful terrazzo-like surface resulting from its recycled plastic materiality.

The Stump Recycled stool shares the original stool’s subtly tapered circular form, yet departs from the previous version’s solid colourways with a kaleidoscopic multicoloured finish.

Playfully mottled surfaces characterise the collection

The stools are crafted from 80 per cent post-industrial plastic, according to the brand, and the design represents Derlot’s interest in creating sustainably made furnishings.

“Beyond being just a stool, it stands as a symbol of a greener future and an ongoing pursuit of sustainable objectives,” said Derlot.

Waste plastic comprises 80 per cent of the stool

“The stool features a unique pattern, presenting a fresh interpretation of recycled materials, ” the brand continued. “The terrazzo-like design accentuates the stool’s recycled origins.”

The pieces are available in a myriad of standard flecked combined colourways and custom combinations can be made upon request.
