Now in its seventh year, the programme has become the ultimate accolade for architects and designers everywhere, with winners selected by a prestigious panel of international judges.

Read on to learn more about the latest judges that have joined this year’s judging panel:

Christian Louboutin opened his first boutique House of Christian Louboutin in 1991

French fashion designer Louboutin is the founder of eponymous brand Christian Louboutin and will sit on the design jury.

Known for his signature red soles, he has designed shoes, bags and accessories for over 40 years. In 2020, the exhibit hall Palais de la Porte Dorée in Paris hosted a major retrospective of his work.

More recently Louboutin created a boutique hotel in the village of Melides, Portugal with architect Madalea Caiado, and spoke exclusively with Dezeen shortly after.

Jomo Tariku’s work spans art, industrial design, data science and humanitarian relief

Ethiopian-American artist and industrial designer Tariku will also be joining the design judging panel.

Tariku’s work is currently part of the permanent collection of the Metropolitan Museum of Art and the Los Angeles County Museum of Art.

A selection of Tariku’s afro-futurist chairs, drawing from his African heritage and childhood in Ethiopia, were featured in the film Black Panther: Wakanda Forever.

Tariku is also co-founder of the Black Artists + Designers Guild (BADG), which promotes the work of Black designers globally while addressing the lack of representation in the design world.

His work includes data research on the lack of Black designers in the furniture licensing industry.

Lisa Jones and Ruby Kean’s work is informed by modernist 20th-century design

Designers Jones and Kean are co-founders of London and New York-based Atelier LK and will be joining this year’s design jury.

Atelier LK’s work spans interiors, architecture, art curation, bespoke furniture and creative direction.

The studio has been featured in several international publications, including the Financial Times’s How to Spend It, Milk Magazine, British Vogue and The Sunday Times Style Magazine.

Atelier LK’s inaugural project No.43 took place at the former residence of artist Ron Hitchins. Jones and Kean curated the exhibition, showcasing modernist furniture pieces alongside a selection of Hitchins’ art.

Keith Griffiths has led Aedas’ wide portfolio of projects

Griffiths is the founder and chairman of global architecture firm Aedas and will be joining architect John Wardle on this year’s architecture panel.

He is an architect and master planner with over 45 years of experience in city-scale urban planning and high-rise, high-density buildings throughout cities in China and Southeast Asia.

Among Aedas’ recent projects are a pair of twin skyscrapers in Hangzhou and the “most twisted tower in the world” in Chongqing.
